Hometown: Santa Rosa, California
I was born in the suburbs of Sonoma County to a Vietnamese immigrant father and a Jewish mother. My childhood was filled with extracurricular activities, from religions school to piano lessons and Taekwondo. While my schedule has since changed, I still find myself engaged in a variety of disciplines both in and out of the classroom. I run varsity cross country and track at Lewis and Clark, and when I am not outside enjoying the beautiful trails of Tryon Creek, one can find me playing classical piano or Spanish guitar. My academic interests include chemistry, physics, math and history, but this certainly not exhaustive. I have worked side-by-side with both scientists and lawyers–my most recent internship was with the Animal Legal Defense Fund. I am a voracious reader and enjoy everything from scientific literature to magical realism–my favorite author is Gabriel Garcia Marquez. After graduation, I intend on pursuing my graduate degree in viticulture or chemical engineering, or both!
