Bio

My name is Rachel, and I am a senior fellow. As a psychology major, I’m particularly interested in how psychology research influences public policy, especially education policy. I am also an Asian studies minor, and have studied Japanese for the past 2 and a half years and had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Osaka Fall of 2016. On campus, I work as a SAAB tutor in Japanese because I love the feeling I get when I teach. I also enjoy running on Lewis & Clark’s varsity Track & Field team, where my main event is the 400 meter hurdles. In addition, I am interested in community activism and have done field work on Washington state Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal’s primary campaign in 2016, and have also done fundraising and outreach for Oregon Public Broadcasting. After college, I am considering pursuing a career in education. I am unsure of where that will take me, but I am considering returning to school to become a high school teacher, and later getting involved in educational administration or education policy reform.
