Instructor of Bassoon
Originally from Portland, Maine, Adam Trussell now plays with the Oregon Symphony. He joined the orchestra in 2011 after playing Assistant Principal Bassoon with the Omaha Symphony for six seasons. While living in Omaha he was on the faculty of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and maintained a large private studio. He also played in a trio he founded with flutist Leslie Fagan and clarinetist John Klinghammer (oriontrio.com).
Adam has had the opportunity to play with other orchestras such as the St. Louis Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, the New World Symphony, the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, the Monterey Symphony (Mexico) and the Boston Philharmonic, to name a few. During his summers he’s played with the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, Colorado Music Festival, Breckenridge Music Festival, Bellingham Music Festival, the AIMS Festival in Graz, Austria, and a festival in Denmark with the Danish Chamber Players.
Adam earned his BM at New England Conservatory in Boston where he studied with Gregg Henegar and Richard Svoboda. He then received his MM from Rice University where he studied with Ben Kamins.
