Alumni Return to Enjoy Summer in Portland

More than a thousand undergraduate alumni and friends returned to Lewis & Clark in late June to celebrate Reunion Weekend 2010.

More than a thousand undergraduate alumni, friends, and family returned to Lewis & Clark in late June to celebrate Reunion Weekend 2010. The event marked the culmination of 18 months of work by over 100 alumni volunteers who served on class reunion and reunion giving committees and organized overseas and off-campus program reunions. In a strong show of support for the college, alumni gave $242,200 in reunion gifts.

Alumni gathered at class receptions, dinners, and lunches; attended more than 35 overseas and off-campus program reunions; and participated in 21 sessions led by current faculty, faculty emeriti, and fellow alumni. The four-day event featured many opportunities for alumni to reconnect−from early morning yoga sessions, to a Northwest salmon bake, to an evening dance at Frank Manor House, to informal gatherings at Maggie’s Café and residence hall lounges.

This year, 150 alumni and family members stayed on campus, and dozens of “future Pioneers” enjoyed special programming for kids and teens.

“We received lots of positive comments from alumni who attended Reunion Weekend,” says Andrew McPheeters, director of alumni and parent programs. “We credit the event’s success to our many alumni volunteers who helped create a memorable reunion experience for their classmates. We’re looking forward to even more volunteer involvement next year.”
