Cross Country teams leap ahead of Linfield

In their kickoff game to the fall season Wednesday night, both the women and men’s team hit the ground running with a dual victory over Linfield: the women with a victory score of 16-43 and the men with a score of 24-32.

The women were led by Illana Livstrom’s (’13)first-place time of 22:57.3. Just behind Livstrom, in second place, was Emily Thomas (’13) with her 23:00.4 time.

Also scoring for the Pioneers were third-place finisher Corinne Innes (’12)(23:18.8), fourth-place finisher Heather Spurling (’13)(23:19.6), and sixth-place finisher, in her first collegiate meet, Emily Fagan (’14)(23:49).

The men were paced by first-place finisher Richie LeDonne (’11), with a time of 26:10.1. In fourth place for the men was John Roberts (’12)(26:52.6). In fifth place was Lars Steier (’11)(26:59.5). Coming in sixth was Sam Smith (’13)     (27:07.8), closely followed by Andrew LeDonne (’14), finishing in eighth with a 27:32.1.

The Pioneer’s cross country team will be on the run again this Saturday, Sept. 11, when they host the L&C Invite at McIver Park starting at 11:00 a.m.
