David Fennell JD ’00
“Preparing for deployment to Iraq, I created an estate plan that included a gift to Lewis & Clark. I want to provide others with the opportunity to attend an excellent law school and to combine legal education with service to country. My gift will help endow a scholarship that I see opening doors for students who combine a patriotic heart and an entrepreneurial spirit.”
After earning his JD, David Fennell served as a judge advocate and captain with the U.S. Marine Corps in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. Honorably discharged in 2004, he practiced transactional and litigation law with private firms in the Denver area.
“As a practicing attorney, I was placed by several different legal staffing agencies,” he says. “I saw that there were better ways to help law firms and companies find great attorneys. I was also eager to develop better ways for legal professionals to secure exceptional employment. So, in 2006 I founded Law Q, a firm specializing in legal recruiting and employment.”
While building Law Q in Denver, Fennell rejoined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. As a major assigned to Marine Air Control Squadron 23 at Colorado’s Buckley Air Force Base, he acted as an operations officer and detachment commander. In the summer of 2008, his unit was activated and deployed to Iraq.
