Stoney Burke 2009

October 12, 2009

The Pios drove down to sunny San Francisco over fall break for UC Berkeley’s Stoney Burke Intersectional over the weekend of October 10-11, 2009. The regatta was held in Clipper Cove.  Races were held on a windward-leeward course with a windward offset and leeward gate. The first race was sailed in a 6-9 knot oscillating breeze. The breeze later filled in a north-westerly direction and slowly clocked west throughout the first four rotations. After the 4th race, the breeze picked up to 15 knots, and by the end of the day was blowing 20 knots with higher gusts. A Division completed 8 races and B Division completed 6 races
by the end of the day at 6 pm. Sunday started with a 10-12 knot breeze that gradually let up throughout the day. The team had a great trip and enjoyed sailing against out of district competition.
