Pios log strong performances in Texas

Before the Spring term even began at Lewis & Clark College, six students were deep in thought … and speech. Hannah Tierney, Ben Tyson, Ramya Ramesh, Neil Hilton, Pamela Garman, and Halah Ilias traveled to Texas Tech University take on the nation’s best teams at the warm-up to the national tournament. While in Lubbock, the teams competed in two tournaments. At the first tournament, all three Lewis & Clark teams qualified for elimination rounds. In the second tournament, the team of Neil Hilton and Ramya Ramesh won three elimination round debates and advanced to quarterfinals.

Currently, Tyson and Tierney are ranked in the top 20 nationally. They are aiming for a bid to the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence. Ramesh and Hilton are also in the running for a bid.

The next tournament for the Pios is January 29-31 at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon.
