CS 171 - Computer Science I

Content: This is the highly popular foundational class on which all other computer science courses are built. We will study the basics of creating your own custom computer programs, using the Java language.
Generic Catalog Description for CS 171: Basic techniques for solving problems amenable to solution through the use of high-level computer programming language. Emphasis on solving a problem via a program and on the skills to write programs solving complex problems. Variables, data types, branches, loops, arrays, functional decomposition.
Prerequisite: Mathematics 115 or equivalent.
Semester Credits: 4
