Associate Professor of Music, and Director of Composition and Music Theory Michael Johanson named composer of the year by Oregon Music Teacher’s Association

Michael Johanson, Director and Associate Professor of composition and music theory at Lewis & Clark, was recently given the Oregon Music Teacher’s Association’s “Composer of the Year” award for 2015.

The OMTA describes the award as seeking to encourage “the creation of new works by American composers. The OMTA Composer of the Year Award recognizes outstanding talent in Oregon by commissioning a new work from the selected composer.”

We’re extremely proud of Michael’s achievement, and look forward to hearing the new music that will come as a result.
