L&C Forensics Hosts the Steve Hunt Classic

Playing the roles of hosts and participants, the Lewis & Clark forensics squad hosted 29 schools and over 300 visitors attending the Steve Hunt Classic. In addition to their normal workload of tournament preparation, the Pioneer squad was asked to help setup for the three-day long event.

The extra work did not discourage the Pios from making a strong showing at the tournament. L&C cleared two open teams, a junior team, and a novice team in NPDA-style debate. The Pios also had much success in limited-preparation individual events. Here are the Pio’s results:

Debate

Neil Hilton and Ramya Ramesh–Quarterfinalists, Senior Debate

Caroline Zeiher and Carmelle Kniss–Quarterfinalists, Junior Debate

Jordan Buysse and Jessica Lee–Quarterfinalists, Novice Debate

Hannah Tierney and Ben Tyson–Octofinalists, Open Debate

Ramya Ramesh–2nd speaker, Open Debate

Hannah Tierney–11th speaker, Open Debate

Jordan Buysse–11th speaker, Novice Debate

In two weeks the team will split, with some competitors attending a pair of tournaments hosted by Colorado College and the United States Air Force Academy, while others head north to the University of Puget Sound.
