Alumnus named superintendent of Scarsdale, New York schools

Alumnus Thomas Hagerman has been named superintendent of schools in Scarsdale, New York.

The Scarsdale School Board has named Thomas Hagerman its 10th superintendent of schools. After a nine-month search, the board chose Hagerman for his strong relationship with the community, high energy level, and integrity.

After earning bachelor’s (BA ’92) and master’s degrees (MEd ’94) from Lewis & Clark, Hagerman completed a doctorate in policy organization and management from the University of Oregon. Hagerman served for nearly three years as superintendent of the Winnetka School District in Illinois, where he wrote a strategic plan and award-winning communications plan. After reviewing his progress at Winnetka, the Scarsdale, New York school board agreed unanimously to hire Hagerman.  “He is a terrific combination of left and right brain skills, a creative problem solver and a consensus builder,” said board Vice President Sunil Subbakrishna.
