She has covered events and trends including the transformation of former Soviet bloc states into independent nations, the rise of globalized finance, and the American invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. She earned a nomination for the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 2011. In 2012, she was part of a team at the Wall Street Journal whose reporting earned the Edwin M. Hood Award for Diplomatic Correspondence.
