Position: Special Projects Assistant

$8.95/hr; 4-6 hours per week; on-campus; work study required

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to allow a qualified student to develop leadership experience and to gain valuable expertise in a variety of areas in the Department of Inclusion and Multicultural Engagement. Special Projects Assistants support IME by coordinating and supporting services related to: programming, communications and publicity, community outreach, and leadership development for students.

Job Description:

  • Assist in the planning needs of major events in IME
  • Participate in collaborative projects with the IME Program Manager, IME Student Life Intern, IME Graduate Assistant, and other staff
  • Serve as an “ambassador” for college initiatives pertaining to diversity and inclusion
  • Support leadership development of all students
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and retreats (see: time commitment)


  • Demonstrate student involvement and student leadership experience (such as clubs, committees, symposia, service etc.)
  • Experience (academic and/or co-curricular) with issues of diversity, social justice, social identity, inclusion, and ethnic or cultural studies

Time Commitment:

  • Devote approximately 4-6 hours per week to the position
  • Must be available to attend regular one-on-one meetings with the supervisor
  • Must be available to attend staff meetings and trainings
  • Must be available for Social Justice Training (September) and Fall Leadership Retreat (October)
