Exploring: Psychology, pre-med

My pre-med path: Medicine runs in my family, and it has always been in my mind as the ultimate helping profession. I chose Lewis & Clark for my pre-med education because I wanted the opportunities I could get only at a liberal arts school, where I would be close to my teachers and feel a sense of community.

Collaborations: I’m so grateful for the relationships I’ve developed with my professors—people who are both incredible mentors and groundbreaking researchers. I’m collaborating with one of them now on a study looking at conscience development in preschool children. That’s the kind ofopportunity you just don’t get at big schools.

Connections: The Health Professions Club is a great source of volunteer opportunities, internships, and support for students pursuing health care careers. As its president, I’ve especially enjoyed bringing in alumni to offer advice and talk about the many paths to health care careers.

Community: Lewis & Clark is the perfect size. It’s small enough that it feels like a community, and large enough that I’m still making new friends.

Good choice: Did I make the right choice? Oh, yes. I’ve received a rich, well-rounded, comprehensive education. I’ve made lifelong friends with a diverse group of peers and professors. And now I’ve been accepted to New York University for graduate school in public health. Lewis & Clark has been the perfect experience for me.
