Cara Tomlinson, Associate Professor of Art, Studio Head of Painting, and Chair of the Art Department, has been selected for a Ucross Foundation Residency.

Cara Tomlinson, Associate Professor of Art, Studio Head of Painting, and Chair of the Art Department, has been selected for a Ucross Foundation Residency. Located on a 20,000-acre ranch in northeastern Wyoming, the Ucross Foundation provides uninterrupted time, work-space, and living accommodations to competitively selected visual artists, writers, and composers. Supported by the Ford Family Foundation, this fellowship will allow Cara to kick off her sabbatical next year with a one month residency at Ucross. Cara plans to use her upcoming sabbatical to explore the integration of various threads of her practice, and how they relate to the history of painting. Her primary project, “Adjacent Possibles: Evolving New Environments in Painting” sets out to explore the limits of painting as a two-dimensional static object. (December 2012)
