The Center for Career and Community Engagement is proud to announce its sponsorship of an Alternative Spring Break program to South Caicos, the Turks and Caicos Islands, focused on the impacts of increased development and tourism on a small island community and fragile environment. If you are interested in immersing yourself in a new community abroad and are passionate about becoming an advocate for social justice and environmental issues we encourage you to apply.

Background: Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI) Trip is a and hands-on and service oriented approach to observing the effects of globalization on an island community. We will be traveling to South Caicos to view the environmental and cultural changes that may occur as it transitions from a fishing-based economy to a tourism-based economy. We will meet and talk with Belongers as well as developers to understand the full picture of what globalization means to the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Requirements: All participants must have a valid passport.
Trip Cost: $650 (Includes all food, transportation and housing) Scholarships are available. Please contact Kirsten Fix (krfix@lclark.edu) in the 3CE office for more information
Questions: Please contact trip leaders, Eva Ramey (evaramey@lclark.edu) and Ian Blair (ianblair@lclark.edu)
