2012-13 Residential Language Communties

Beginning Wednesday, February 1st and continuing through February 15th, the recruitment phase for the 2012-13 Residential Language Communities (RLC) begins.  If you are interested in pursuing participation in a language and cultural immersion experience in your living environment, we encourage you to investigate this exciting option.  In it’s fourth year of existence, the RLC’s have experienced tremendous success.  Students report a significant improvement in their language skill and some have participated in the RLC and used their experience as either preparation for an overseas program or a transition after studying abroad.

If you are functionally proficient in everyday speech in Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, or Chinese and plan to enroll in language courses during the 2012-13 academic year, you may qualify.  If you’re not familiar with the RLC in function or location, an Open House will be held in West Hall from 4-5:30pm on Thursday, February 9.  You’ll have a chance to meet and interact with the current residents as well as the presiding Language Assistant. An information packet including the application form is available online and outlines the following time line.
