Higgins stays as research technician
January 17, 2012
Logan Higgins 11’ has continued her tenure at Lewis and Clark as our lab technician. She has been busy working on a number of projects that involved her traveling to Canada this summer and Minnesota this fall. Her thesis research was just accepted for publication in the journal Botany. Congrats Logan! The title of the paper is “Symbiotic Frankia bacteria in Alnus forests in Mexico and the United States: Is geographic location a good predictor of assemblage structure?” (the short answer is no!). Logan also presented a poster of the results of her thesis work at the 2011 American Society of Microbiology meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. Partial funding for her attendance at the ASM meeting was provided by a grant from the Council for Undergraduate Research. Logan is currently faced with the tough choice of deciding which grad program in microbial ecology to attend – we’ll keep you posted on what she decides!
