CHIN 230 - Bones to Blossoms: Chinese Literature from Earliest Times to The Tang Dynasty
Spring-2012
09:10-10:10 am
Taught by Prof. Keith Dede
An introduction to Chinese literature from its oracular beginnings to a period of immense poetic production in the Tang. The time period represents an expanse of over two millennia. Therefore we expect a great deal of change in the literature over that time, as well as in the culture as a whole. This opens the way to critical comparative analysis, not only comparison across time within the Chinese tradition, but also comparison between the cultural experience represented in the literature and the student’s own cultural experience.
