Pios Debate at the Oregon Pen

Senior Alex Beck, Junior Ben Harrison, and Sophomore Joe Ellerbroek traveled to the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem to debate members of the Capital Toastmasters Club, a speaking group composed of inmates from the OSP.

Easily one of the best experiences of the year, all three students were amazed at the warm environment created by the club members (all things considered, of course) and the high quality of the debates.

In one debate, Beck and Harrison took second place.

Next October, the Club will sponsor a full scale tournament that will include colleges from the region–Willamette, Lewis & Clark, and Linfield–as well as club teams.
