The Academy of American Poets Prize for Lewis & Clark College
Submissions are now being accepted for the 2011 prize. This contest is open to all Lewis & Clark seniors who are currently enrolled.
Please submit one to three poems as an attached word document in an e-mail to Debbie Richman at drichman@lclark.edu.
Submissions will be sent to an outside judge. The winner will be listed in the Academy’s national newsletter and will receive $100. Winning poems may appear in future Academy publications.
The Academy sponsors over 200 annual prizes for poetry at colleges and universities nationwide. Many of America’s most esteemed poets won their first recognition through an Academy College Prize, including Diane Ackerman, Toi Derricotte, Mark Doty, Alice Fulton, Tess Gallagher, Louise Glück, Allen Grossman, Jorie Graham, Kimiko Hahn, Joy Harjo, Robert Hass, Li-Young Lee, Brad Leithauser, J. D. McClatchy, Heather McHugh, Gregory Orr, Robert Pinsky, Sylvia Plath, Mark Rudman, Mary Jo Salter, Gjertrud Schnackenberg, George Starbuck, Mark Strand, and Charles Wright.
