Kurt Huffman is a Portland boy, born and raised. The seeds of his restaurant group ChefStable (Ox, Gruner, Lardo, Oven and Shaker, St. Jack, and more) began at his first cooking class at age 10. After graduating from Reed College, Kurt spent nearly a decade in France owning and managing restaurants before returning to the United States to earn his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley.
Huffman has established himself as one of the most successful and prolific restaurateurs on the West Coast, and he is the driving force behind concepts such as Gruner, Ox, Oven and Shaker, St. Jack, Lardo, Grassa, Miller’s Guild, Cooper’s Hall, Foster Burger, Hamlet, P.R.E.A.M., and Loyal Legion.
From James Beard-nominated Aaron Barnett’s St. Jack to Greg and Gabi Denton’s Ox and Rick Gencarelli’s casual sandwich shop Lardo, Kurt applies his experience to assure that every time ChefStable works with a new partner that the chef’s vision remains sacred.
