Professor Beckham has been teaching history at Lewis & Clark since 1977. He is widely known for his work with Native Americans and the American West, especially the Pacific Northwest and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Beckham has helped to develop many museums and exhibits in the Pacific Northwest and around the world. Some of his projects include The Literature of the Lewis & Clark Expedition touring exhibit, the Gorge Discovery Center in the Dalles, the High Desert Museum in Bend, the National Historic Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, and Oregon, My Oregon exhibition at the Oregon Historical Society.
Professor Beckham has also authored many works, including a recent book on the school’s historical properties - the Frank Manor House, Corbett House on South Campus, and the Cooley House in Dunthorpe, the official residence of the Lewis & Clark President. The book is titled “Fortune and Friendship: Lewis & Clark’s Heritage Properties.”
