The Osage Orange Tree is an iconic story from the life and legacy of William Stafford. He lived something like this story in the 1930s in Liberal, Kansas … wrote the story in the 1940s… and won the Oregon Centennial fiction contest with it in 1959. Now in 2014, the year of Stafford’s own centennial, The Osage Orange Tree has come fully into its own in a newly published hard-cover book illustrated with twenty-five original linocuts by Dennis Cunningham.
