The Career Development Center has a created a series of hands-on programs designed to meet you where you are in your career journey. Join us for one or attend all three.
Find Your Path (December 3rd or 4th, 5:30 - 8:00 pm)
Career planning is a dynamic and continuous process. Understanding your values, interests, skills and strengths is the first step in developing a career path. During this interactive program, participants will deepen their self-awareness and learn how to use this knowledge to explore potential career paths. Target Audience: This program is ideal for undecided students or individuals just starting to think about “what could be next?” Dinner provided!
$10 deposit is required to reservation your spot. Once registered, you will receive information on completing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory and StrengthsQuest. Please complete these instruments at least 48 hours prior to the program.
Get That Job! (January 13th - 15th, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm)
So you have an idea of potential career paths, but how do you actually get your foot in the door? Knowing how to navigate the job and internship process can be tricky and it is competitive out there. Never fear, we are here to help you develop career search strategies and skills for a lifetime of success. Learn how to conduct a focused search in a tough economy including effectively articulating your value, researching industries and employers, developing a professional presence on social media, and building a network.This program is critical for anyone searching for a job or internship in the next year. Juniors and seniors, especially!

Destination: Portland (January 16th - 17th, 9:00 am - 4:30 pm)
We know you love Portland – it’s green, it’s progressive, it’s got culture, music and food. But how do you find a job in this tough market? Explore the Portland job market through site visits to local employers, insider tips from a local economist, and advice from LC alums. This is a great opportunity to develop your networking skills, learn about local industries and job sectors, and get advice on job searching in Portland. Participants of this program are required to attend an Orientation Dinner on Thursday, December 12th at 5:30. Lunch will be provided during the program!
