Staying On Track: The Writing Process for Research Papers

Date: 3:00pm PDT March 15 Location: J.R. Howard Hall 202

J.R. Howard Hall 202

Research papers present a new set of challenges in the spring. They are generally longer than anything students write in Fall E&D, and the wider range of ideas and sources involved can make them difficult to manage. This workshop will help students learn how to organize their research into cohesive, persuasive arguments. We’ll discuss the key sections many research papers include, but also some differences across topics that can require distinct approaches.  We’ll also discuss strategies for writing effective introductions and conclusions, which become more essential as papers grow longer and more complex. Finally, we’ll talk about strategies for time management and motivation throughout a long-term writing project.

This is the second workshop in the THE KEY THREE: Research, Writing, and Presentation Skills series, jointly offered by LC’s College Advising Center and the Writing Center.

Registration for this event is now closed.
