“From The Spirituals to Hip-Hop” is a multimedia musical exploration of the history of Black music, culture and resistance.

Come experience New Jersey-based Emcee, educator and community organizer Hasan Salaam. His lecture is a musical exploration of the history of Black music, Black culture and Black resistance, We will explore the social and political climate that gave birth to each generation and form the music from The Spirituals to Hip-Hop, Jazz to Rock & Roll.

Hasan Salaam has performed for Hip Hop legends Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaata, and Curtis Blow. He has also opened shows for Wyclef Jean, Naughty by Nature, Busta Rhymes, Black Moon, Floetry, Common, and dead prez.

Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs as we continue to explore “Frames of the Black Experience: A Retrospective Through Film, Photography, and the Arts”.
