Did you know:

-75,800 African Americans live in Oregon, which is 2 percent of the state’s population
-80 percent live in the Portland Metro Area
-23 percent live in North Portland
-Nearly 30 percent live in poverty, while approximately 13 percent of all Oregonians live in poverty.
-19 percent hold a B.A. degree, compared with 28 percent of all Oregonians

The Urban League of Portland published the State of Black Oregon report in the fall of 2009 for the first time in 17 years, and is generating critical discussions throughout Oregon. Marcus Mundy, President and CEO of the Urban League of Portland, will visit our campus to personally share the report.

He will discuss the African American experience in Portland and greater Oregon–and how our community should respond to the disparities that exist within black Portland.

Refreshments will be served.
