About the Issue

In a 2010, the Arizona state legislature banned all public K-12 schools from teaching ethnic studies. A district’s violation of the law results in a 10 percent withhold of the district’s state funding. Supports of the law argue that ethnic studies promote “resentment toward a certain ethnic group”. Earlier this year, it was announced that Arizona officials plan to expand the ban to state universities.
