Dr. Gregory Anderson - Language hotspots as a roadmap to the future of linguistics in the 21st century

The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and SAAB invite you and your students to a public talk by Dr. Gregory Anderson on Monday, April 16, 7PM in Miller 105. Dr. Anderson is a fellow in the National Geographic Society and the founding director of the Living Tongues Institute for Endangered Languages, a non-profit dedicated to the documentation, revitalization and maintenance of endangered languages. His work was profiled in the widely seen documentary The Linguists.

His talk, “Language Hotspots as a Road map to the Future of Linguistics in the 21st Century”, will focus on language hotspots, particularly one in northeastern India where he and his research team have uncovered a new language, Koro Aka.
