Helen Sanders Scholarship
The Helen Sanders Scholarship was established in 1991 by members of the Quinault Allottees Association, landowners on the Quinault Reservation, in honor of Helen Sanders, a lifetime resident of the Chehalis Reservation and lead plaintiff in Mitchell v. United States. Ms. Sanders served two terms as secretary of the National Congress of the American Indian and has long been an advocate of Indian interests. The scholarship supports ethnic minority students with preference for students of Native American descent and a demonstrated interest in history or ethnohistory.
