Fall Theatre Department Main Stage Production, “Beckett(s)”

  • News Image

The Fall 2009 Theatre Department Main Stage Production, “Beckett(s),” will focus on the work of Samuel Beckett (1906-1989), certainly one of the most innovative and influential playwrights of the 20th century. The title indicates that we’re staging a number of Beckett’s works, making the evening a small Beckett festival.

The evening will consist of two parts. In Part One, eight of his short plays – Footfalls, Rockaby, Play, Not I, Come and Go, Cascando, What Where, and Catastrophe – will be staged in spaces located throughout Fir Acres Theatre. It will be a walk-through experience, somewhere between a museum tour, a haunted house, and installation art. In Part Two, audience members will file into the main stage auditorium for a more conventional, sit-down performance of Endgame and Act Without Words.
