Resource Lab
The resource lab, located in the bottom of the Watzek library, has a vast array of computer technology for the Lewis and Clark College student. With six computers, including two PC’s and four Mac’s, the resource lab is useful to everyone. Whether you wish to spice up a photograph for your web project or powerpoint presentation, create a web page, burn a CD, or make a 3-D drawing, the resource lab has the tools you need to complete the job. The resource lab boasts a powerful selection of the most current programs, both graphical, and web-related, including the most recent applications for Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, ImageReady, Dreamweaver, Clarisworks homepage, Aftershock, Poser, Bryce, Pagemaker, and GoLive. The resource lab also has scanners, resources for both zip and floppy drives, full-color printers, and capacity to make those all-important overheads for your oral presentation. Finally, the resource lab is always staffed by at least one knowledgable student, able to assist you in all your technology-related needs. Just make sure to stop by an make your appointment to use the computers ahead of time, because they are often filled up with students wishing to make overheads or burn CD’s right when you need them most.
Digital Lab
The digital lab is a powerful, fully-equiped editing suite, where you can create movies and still images from your camcorder or digital camera, among other things. This suite, equipped with the most current and powerful editing programs to suit your needs. The suite has a powerful macintosh computer with many gigs of hard-drive space, DVD technology, and the latest in sound equipment, including powerful speakers, a mixer, and several audio devices to play your favorite tapes, CD’s, lasterdiscs, or DVD’s. This suite is in high demand, and large segments of time in the digital lab are assured for students of communication. Although the digital suite can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it is in high demand and appointments should be made well ahead of time to insure that you get the time you need to complete your video or audio project. Note that you also have to be trained in the use of this editing suite in order to make time available for your individual use.
