Patience Chaitezvi grew up immersed in mbira music within her family. Her mother is a traditional healer and medium of several spirits. Patience learned to play mbira from her brothers and has played mbira in traditional Shona ceremonies all her life. Patience also plays hosho (shakers) and ngoma (drum). She is an experienced and accomplished traditional Shona dancer and a very patient teacher. Patience is one of the only Zimbabwean mbira players to have both a university degree and extensive experience playing mbira music in traditional ceremonies. She now works as a high school teacher.
