MUP-136: Ghanaian Drum Ensemble
This class is an introduction of the hand drumming of Ghana, West Africa. Students will learn the five hand techniques and work on striking the drum correctly. Instruction helps the students prepare for the culminating World Music Concert at the end of each semester
Students will use the five hand techniques to create patterns and rhythms and will learn to play in ensemble format. In addition to hand drumming, students will learn to play bell patterns and to play the donno or talking drum. Each student will learn to create a solo drum pattern to play during the ensemble performance.
