Andrea Liamzon ('10)
Andrea Liamzon received the Kathryn Davis Peace Fellowship.
In addressing today’s critical need for increased language proficiency in the United States, philanthropist Kathryn Davis has been giving 100 Peace Fellowships for the study of critical languages at world-renowned intensive summer Language Schools at Middlebury College, Vermont. This year, FL major Andrea Liamzon received the fellowship to study Russian. Students may now apply to study Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Portuguese, and Russian if they have a demonstrated interest in international, global, or area studies, international politics and economics, peace and security studies, and/or conflict resolution.

2012 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program - Deadline: November 15, 2011
The United States Department of State is pleased to announce the scholarship competition for the 2012 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program for overseas intensive summer language institutes in thirteen critical need foreign languages. CLS institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks for U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students. Students may apply for one language, and will be placed at institute sites based on language evaluations after selection. -
Logan Robertson ‘11, Foreign Languages major, received a Fulbright English Teaching award for the 2011-12 academic year. -
Margaret Williams ‘11, International Affairs major and Russian minor, received a Fulbright English Teaching award for the 2011-12 academic year. -
Luke Rodeheffer ‘11, Foreign Languages major (Russian/German) and a History minor, received a Fulbright research fellowship to Kiev, Ukraine for the 2011-12 year.
