Study Abroad in France
Strasbourg & Nancy
Prerequisite: Two years of college French for both majors and non-majors. Grade point average: 3.0. Junior standing.
Program: Lewis & Clark offers a semester or full-year option program at l’Université de Strasbourg or Nancy. Students take courses at the university and l’Institut International d’Etudes Françaises. Housing with French families.
Fulfills the French Studies major and Foreign Languages major (French as a primary language) overseas study requirement.
Study Abroad in Senegal
Sub-Saharan Francophone Culture
Prerequisites: Junior standing, 2 years college level French (non-majors) or 3 years college level French for majors.
Program design: Study focuses on the historical, cultural, and socioeconomic institutions of sub-Saharan Francophone Africa. Special attention is paid to post-colonial politics, contemporary Senegalese society, grassroots development, and environmental issues.
Fulfills the French Studies and Foreign Languages major overseas requirement. Two courses meet the International Studies General Education requirement. 16 credits per semester (4 courses or equivalent).

- History of Islam
All courses taught by Africa Consultant International (ACI) and University Cheikh Anta Diop of Dakar (UCAD) faculty. Housing is with host families.
