Songbird - Student Composition Recital

Date: April 17 2010 2:00pm Location: Evans Music Auditorium

The concert features an exciting new collaborative project involving students in
the Composition and English programs.  Faculty members Doug Erickson (Special
Collections Head/Archivist), Mary Szybist (Assistant Professor of
English), and Michael Johanson (Assistant Professor of Music) developed this
collaborative project, in which students in Professor Johanson’s Beginning
Composition class worked with the students of L&C Professor Szybist’s Poetry
class.  The composers set students’ poems to music, and it is these works that
will be premiered at the concert.

Student, faculty, and guest perfomers will appear on this recital.  Featured
guest and faculty perfomers are soprano Renéee Favand, soprano Barbara
Skipworth, and pianist Lourdes Johanson.
