Senior Speaker Competition

Each year, Commencement includes brief remarks from a member of the senior class.

 

This year, sixteen (16) members of the Class of 2012, competed for this honor, the most in recent history.

Speeches were submitted by Wednesday,  March 14, 5 p.m.,  to Michael Ford, Associate Vice President for Campus Life, Office of the Provost, Frank Manor House, or mail it to MSC 37.

On Monday, March 19, 2012, 6-9 p.m., a senior/staff selection committee heard all speeches in Templeton Campus Center, Council Chamber. Senior class members were invited to attend.

Speeches were evaluated based on published criteria  by a panel of seniors and staff who volunteered to serve in this capacity, and the selection committee was convened by Michael Ford, Commencement Coordinator.

All seniors competing for this honor were advised in writing of the results of competition once the chosen speaker, Paige Glowacky,  was notified by the Dean of the College.

All seniors participanting agreed to have their speeches taped, and tapes of their speeches will be made available at the News section of the Commencement web site.
