Associate Dean of the College
The Office of the Associate Dean assists the Dean of the College in overseeing the academic life of Lewis & Clark College.
Jane Hunter, Professor of History, serves as Associate Dean of the College.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Associate Dean of the College
The Associate Dean of the College works to support the Dean of the College in filling multiple administrative functions. The Associate Dean’s responsibilities include:
- Receiving, reviewing, and approving requests for faculty travel and research grants
- Receiving and reviewing requests for funding capital equipment and projects prior to further review and prioritization by the Faculty Council
- Working with department chairs to convene faculty search committees, developmental review committees, departmental review committees, and to hire adjunct and visiting faculty
- Working with department chairs and faculty members on assembling files for salary, tenure and promotion review
- Advising the Dean of the College on final decisions concerning developmental reviews and salary increases
- Serving as an ex-officio member of the Faculty Council, the body that replaces the Academic Council in advising the Dean of College on allocation of faculty and staff positions, allocation of funds for capital projects and equipment, changes in by-laws and procedures, and other difficult issues which affect the welfare of the College
